Two members of the Rocket City Trash Pandas team spoke at the November 12, 2021, Athens Rotary Club meeting.
Rocket City Trash Pandas Play-by-Play Announcer Josh Caray and Account Executive Michaela Smalley visited our club and talked about the inaugural season for the Trash Pandas. A few takeaways from the first season include:
- Overall Record: 54-56
- Home Record: 30-22
- Road Record: 24-34
- Strikeouts: 1,112 (1st in AA-South)
- Homeruns: 152 (1st in AA-South, 5th in AA)
- Home Attendance: 274,858
- Home Avg. Attendance: 5,726
- Never four games above or four games below 500 until September 4th. 53-48 and tied for first on 9/4, then lost the next eight games to drop out of contention before winning the last game of the season.
- 10 Trash Pandas pitchers made their Major League debut this season.
In 2022, the Rocket City Trash Pandas will play a 138 game schedule with more than 60 home games. The home opener is April 12, 2021, against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. There will be 25 postgame fireworks spectaculars.
